Joint Meeting, More Fun!

Jessica Mo, A1 Toastmasters

You think you will never have more fun than attending a Toastmasters meeting? Unfortunately, you can have more fun in attending a Toastmasters joint meeting!

On March 21, 2011, A1 Toastmasters and Beijing No.1 Toastmasters held a joint meeting in Zhaolong Hotel. Fellow Toastmaster members flooded into the meeting venue before the meeting and even guests from across Beijing attended it in cheerful mood.

The joint meeting hosts were Never Wang from A1 Toastmasters and Daisy from Beijing No.1 Toastmasters. These two humorous hosts made a very impressive introduction speech by having one talk and the other one make gestures, which gave the audience refreshment after a day's work. And the curtain of a great meeting was now drawn.

Ryan Jing, the Variety Master prepared a small game to warm up. The audience not only had to pose in a hilarious way but also had to explain his or her poses in English in the warm-up session. When the game was over, the audience was both verbally and physically warmed up, ready to move on to the next session with so much energy. Prepared speeches, evaluation speeches and meeting officials were assigned evenly to both clubs. Almost all the attending members participated in one session or another and the rest had a great time during Matt Bartoloni's table topic session. Every table topic speaker was asked to draw an object from a "magic" bag and tell a story about it until the audience had figured out what the object was. Matt involved the audience into the table topic session and made the table topic very interactive. David Qi, President of Beijing No.1 Toastmasters, won the table topic session with his great imagination and vivid, hilarious descriptions of a cartoon character. And A1 Toastmasters members Jason Chen and Michaela Zuber, President of A1 Toastmasters, won the Best Speaker and the Best Evaluator respectively.

The joint meeting ended in joy and harmony. Two clubs had magical sparkles and produced a lot more energy than each club could. The sense of happiness and participation was filled in every audience and we look forward to the next joint meeting.

See you next time.
