Welcome to the Online Home of A1 Toastmasters
Becoming a Member of the A1 Toastmaster Club is easy!

The place to begin is to attend one of our meetings as a visitor and see how our club works so you can decide the benefit you will gain from being a member.  If you wish you can contact us using the form on this site; or, just come to one of our meeting (meeting dates are shown on the calendar to the right).  Access to the club is easy, since we are conveniently located at the Tuanjiehu Building  near the Hujialou subway station on Line 10 (see Meeting Location for maps and directions to our meeting room).

If you have decided to join the club, then you can complete the application form and bring it with you to our next meeting.  Once we have your application form and paid the dues and fees, our members will vote to let you become a member of the club - and then your journey in Toastmasters will begin.

What You Get with Your Membership

Like all Toastmasters clubs around the world, the most important thing in each meeting is the community of members that make up each club.  These members are the people that will assist you as you learn and develop your skills in communication and leadership using the time tested programs in the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership program.  To help you with this, you will give speeches, take roles in meetings and learn to give value-added feedback to others.  To help you with this, each new member receives the following:

  • Competent Communication Manual - a step-by-step guide that allows you to build the basic skills necessary to becoming a better communicator.  This manual has been developed using more than 80 years of experience Toastmasters International has gathered in helping more than 4 million men and women improve their communication skills
  • Competent Leader Manual - a program designed to help you to identify and develop the skills necessary to be an effective leader.  These multipart projects are designed to allow you to learn basic leadership skills while taking part in the club's regular meetings.
  • Access to On-line tools to help you improve your speaking - these time tested pamphlets are now available for you to download on-line so you can have them for review anytime you want.
  • Toastmasters Magazine - as a member you will receive a copy of the magazine each month and you will have access to the on-line version of the magazine so you can view it anywhere you go.  Each magazine has tips and pointers on how to be a better speaker and leader.
What Does It Cost to Join A1?

There are two fees that every new member pays when joining the A1 club - the New Member Fee and the Membership Dues.  The New Member Fee is a set amount (?50 RMB) that is paid to Toastmasters International for the access to the materials in the New Member Kit (note - dual, transfer and reinstating members do not have to pay this fee unless they need to replace their manuals).  Membership dues are prorated depending upon the month in which you join (see the table below) and all members must pay dues at the two semiannual dues renewals (March & September - members that join in these months pay one month + the semiannual renewal dues).
